Still Here, Somehow

After 35 days, I could tell you about the awful start to basketball season or the Intangibles tour I missed because of it. Or finding out my college friend getting engaged or that my car took an(other) unfortunate beating or the going away party at which I did something way more meaningful than I thought.

But I'll leave you with this:

There is a certain way she sometimes laughs: a chortle, choked out of her throat in a two-toned escalation as if surprising her with its suddenness and making sense of the word "peals" as no cliche has ever done for me. Seven months later, I'm still trying to hear it again.

And I do, often.
