Train Travel

Fact: Based on the current pay scale, an Unlimited NYC MTA MetroCard becomes worthwhile on your 47th ride of the month. This is because the Unlimited costs $81, and buying a Pay-Per-Ride card for $80 earns a $12 bonus (15%), which means you receive 46 rides ($92/$2 per ride).

Hypothesis: An unlimited MetroCard serves me better than buying Pay-Per-Ride, despite my inconsistency of usage (i.e. not to/from work 5x each week).

Method: After purchasing an unlimited, starting today (I made no use of public transportation on Saturday or Sunday) I will be tracking each ride I take for the next 30 days. At the end of 30 days, we shall see if I have hit or surpassed the magic number of 47 rides.

DAY ONE

    From 4th Ave./9th St. to 42nd St./Times Sq.
(via R to Pacific St./Atlantic Ave. and N to 42nd)

  2. To Drinks with Queen E
    From 4th Ave./9th St. to 14th St./Union Sq.
(via R to Dekalb Ave. and Q to 14th)

  3. From Drinks with Queen E
    From 14th St./Union Sq. to 4th Ave./9th St.
    (via R to 9th)
Drinks:
  • 4 $4 margaritas at El Cantinero. Cheers to all-night Happy Hour. And free chips and salsa. Mmmm.
Etc:
  • I went to the gym, because I am a champ and inexplicably get in ridiculous shape for the winter months. Does this explain my wildly successful autumnal ladykillings? Quite possibly, but who knows?

Really, it's me just being bored after swearing off girls for the summer ... for each of the last three years.

  • This job preventing me from be so carelessly social might be the best thing ever to happen to my dating life. I'm cutting off people I'd normally give much more rope to play with. On the regular. It's a bit empowering.

  • I had a pleasant Halloween. And if the girl Sweeney Todd has been trying to hook me up with redeems herself after being lame on Friday, I might just be okay. As that Lupe Fiasco guy once told me.
